For science week our school has been looking at the theme Connections. In reception we investigated the connections between life-cycles of different animals found in our gardens. We went on a pond walk to spot the different animals in our gardens, using our nets and buckets. Children were able to find frogspawn, tadpoles, froglets and adult frogs, helping them to discover the different stages of a frogs life-cycle. Then we decided that scientists like finding differences and similarities, so Amber class compared a frog life-cycle to a butterflies. We are currently observing and recording the changes to the caterpillars in our classroom.
